In a memorandum dated 26-03-1962 it is stated:
The Reef Hills detection tower, in the Benalla District, is now seriously affected by white ants and fungal decay, and is considered unsafe for use.
In a memorandum dated 30-11-1962 it is stated:
It is directed that immediate arrangements be made by the district officers concerned for the normal manning of the following fire lookout stations: Mt. Wombat, Reef Hills, Mt. Warby, Mt. Pilot and Mt. Granya.
