Note the narrow cabin. There are a few communication towers nearby, some of them interfering with the view. There is an office under the tower, which is constantly manned by Melbourne Airport staff.

In the Forest Commission's Annual Report 1926-1927 it states:
"During the year, the following additional fire lookout stations were established: Creswick, Mt. Disappointment, Mt. Donna Buang, Mt. Drummer, Mt. Nowa Nowa, Beech Forest and Mt. Macedon.
Four of these stations were operating last summer, and all seven will be operating during the summer of '27-'28".

The cabin in the above photos is a Parks Portable and was installed in 2002 (infromation supplied by Richard Webb)

The above photos of the cabin removal and new cabin were supplied in Nov 2020 by DELWP. The ladder system was also replaced. The size, gradient and length of the new ladders means they can be climbed without specialist training or harness.

The five 2023 photos above were taken and supplied by Andre Belterman. Mt. Macedon was visited as part of the FLO end-of-fire-season-get-together in late April 2023
