There was some confusion at the start of the 2008-09 season. It looked like the tower was not going to be operational that season. This was proven to be wrong.

The tower was visited during the 2011 FLO end-of-season-get-together in May that year. Photos taken and suplied by Andre Belterman

The tower had the cabin replaced in 2013. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you can supply any photos of the new cabin.

These photos were supplied by Peter McHugh in mid July 2026. They are from the Gregor Wallace collection
Peter also supplied the following information: "These photos were taken during a family outing in April 1977 and show Gregor Wallace, his son on the trig station and daughter. Gregor's wife took the photos. The old wooden tower (37°33'25.9"S 144°21'37.6"E) had a great view over to the Brisbane Ranges and the plains towards Melbourne, and over much of the Wombat State Forest.
The lookout man lived in Blackwood. It was replaced with the current metal tower in about 1980".
