In April 2005, 2 very dedicated FLO's climbed the tower for the last time as part of their job.
Warren Thomas and Dawn Parker retired from tower duty after 19 years of service. It was reported to be a record for service in a fire tower, but this has been disputed since..
The article (found on the FCV...etc...DEECA intranet) also says the cabin is 33m up a 85m high telecommunication tower. A transcript of the article can be found here

The second photo was after the 2020 fires.


The 1st photo (5th Jan 2020) shows the area around Maramingo Hill that was burnt in the 2020 fires.
The other 3 photos (18th Jan 2020) were taken from a helicopter.
The tower structure was not damaged during the fire. Photos were supplied by Chris Philbrick.


Maramingo Hill had it's cabin replaced in 2014.
