Photo (19??) supplied by MLC in July 2020. The photo was found in the DBCA library.

The tower was demolished in 1990 by the Army.

There is a question mark about the "in use" date. In a Forest Department spreadsheet, it states that the tower was built in 1958.
MLC found the earliest mention of George tower in the Forest Department's Detailed Annual Report of 1954-55 it states that George tower was manned 'Intermittently, 5 days'.
It was also mentioned in the Forest Department's Detailed Annual Report of 1955-56, where it says it was used for "7 days only".
The ONLY year when George had a continuous (yet short) manning period was 1960-61. That was the year of the Dwellingup fires, which were in January.
We're still researching if there was another tower on site, previous to the one constructed in 1958 or that we need to revise the 1958 year.

Screenshot of old map supplied by MLC in late 2019. MLC also reported:
Co-ordinates approx - no remains of tower, demolished 1990. Located on George Hill.
