Gentle Annie was a wooden tower and about 18m high. Operations were moved to Spion Kopje in 1955. Spion Kopje is a bare rocky knob so only the cabin was built around the Trig Point. Spion Kopje last operated in about 1976.

Information below was found in notes supplied by David Bannear
A temporary tower was erected in February 1969 at North Hells Gate, NW of Neerim South (grid ref.: CT 999 975), to test that site as a possible alternative to Spion Kopje but this site gave only restricted visibility and the plan was abandoned.
A quote was submitted for a the hire of scaffolding for a 18m tower in October 1976. No further correspondence was found.

Above prints of Spion Kopje were scanned from a photocopy, supplied by David Bannear.

Gentle Annie in 1955, supplied by David Morley. David's father is trying to climb the cross brace as the bottom of the ladder was removed. However he realised the structure was quite rotten and didn’t continue any further!
