The Canbera Times from 6th February 1952 reported: During the day 10 fires were reported in and on the northwest boundaries of the A.C.T.
At 10:32 a.m. Uriarra lookout reported a fire in Pierce's Creek plantation. It was quickly extinguished by forestry workers from Pierce's Creek, and damage was reported as negligible.
Three minutes later the same lookout radioed that a fire had broken out in the hardwood forest near Lees Creek Road. Forestry workers from Uriarra forest quickly confined the blaze to a small area and extinguished it before valuable timber was destroyed.
